Russia threatens Wiki with 4 mln rbl fine for fake Ukraine info

MOSCOW, Apr 5 (PRIME) -- The communications service has requested Wikipedia to delete materials with unreliable information about Russia’s operation in Ukraine, or pay a 4 million ruble fine, the regulator said on Tuesday in a statement.

“The materials that distribute fake information about the special military operation in Ukraine and the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have been massively posted on Wikipedia recently,” the authority said.

The watchdog said that authors of the articles placed on Wikipedia “mislead the Internet resource’s users with clearly faulty information on purpose.” The stories promote anti-Russian interpretation of the events only.

The regulator earlier asked Wikipedia to delete unreliable information about the operation in Ukraine.
